The Foot & Ankle Centre uses leading edge treatments and traditional best practices to
deliver the most effective outcomes while minimizing patientsʼ pain and downtime as
much as possible. Continuing education and training experiences have enabled Dr.
Haber and staff to embrace the latest advancements in both palliative care and surgical
modalities for our patientsʼ maximum benefit. Among FACNJʼs specialties are:
LASER TREATMENTS
Dr. Haber has been the leading podiatrist in Bergen County for treating a variety of nail
and skin conditions affecting the foot with different lasers, including CO2 and Pulse Dye
Lasers. His considerable experience and comfort with laser technologies has earned
the trust of referring doctors and their patients for using lasers to treat warts and
ingrown nails for more than 20 years.
Dr. Haber chose a system that uses a cool laser instead of a heat laser to eliminate
fungal pathogens that infect toenails without harming the normal tissue. Extensive
clinical trials have shown that this laserʼs low energy beams allow for more exhaustive
treatment of fungal toenails and better results, with virtually no side effects.
Treatments are quick, do not require anesthesia, and are done in the comfort of the
doctorʼs office.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) INJECTIONS
One of the most exciting developments in Sports Medicine and Orthopedics is Platelet
Rich Plasma therapy, a treatment that aids the regeneration of ligament and tendon
injuries and shortens rehabilitation time. PRP combines the latest advancements in
medical technology with the bodyʼs natural ability to heal itself and often eliminates the
need for surgery.
With PRP, doctors extract a small vial of a patientʼs blood, about 30 milliliters, and spin it
in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the other components in the
blood. This concentrated dose of platelets is then injected at the site of the patientʼs
injury, infusing it with growth factors secreted by the platelets to spur tissue recovery.
Many high profile patientsʼ expedited recovery after PRP therapy has made it the
treatment of choice for both athletes and those with active lifestyles.
ELECTROCORPOREAL SHOCKWAVE THERAPY (ESWT) & TOPAZ PROCEDURES
Dr. Haber uses ESWT and the Topaz procedure, two of the latest advancements for
the treatment of heel pain, when conservative methods have been unsuccessful.
CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
Orthotics are custom inserts that create proper foot alignment for the prevention and
treatment of a wide array of foot, lower back and lower extremity problems. They often
are prescribed for adults who suffer from the adverse effects of flat feet, and to relieve
the pain caused by shin splints, also known as growing pains, among young children.
Orthotics may also be prescribed proactively to seniors to improve posture, balance and
gait, thereby preventing falls.
The growing ranks of weekend warriors has resulted in a spike in the number of sportsrelated
foot and ankle injuries, such as shin splints, lower back pain, and tendonitis, especially Achilles Tendonitis. Use of a custom-fit orthotic will relieve the pain of these
conditions by balancing weight distribution across the foot and establishing proper spine
alignment.
A rapid orthotic scanner makes it possible to capture the most accurate
representation of the patientsʼ individual foot architecture and turn around a perfect
custom fit in less time than using traditional plaster molds.
Orthotics should be standard gear among athletes for stabilizing the feet during physical
activities, as well for extending seniorsʼ ambulatory capabilities.
DIABETIC FOOT CARE
Diabetes is a condition that manifests in changes in the foot as well as overall infectous
and circulatory issues. The podiatrist needs to be both mindful of the diabetic patientsʼ
overall condition as well as aware of common symptoms. The development of
ulcerations in the foot is common in this population. Special attention must be paid to
the wound care of diabetics due to a decrease in their healing potential.
MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY
These surgical procedures require less dissection and thus are less debilitating and less
painful, and allow for faster recuperation.
X-RAYS ON PREMISES
For the convenience of our patients and to help the doctor to expedite his diagnosis, we
have an X-Ray machine and developer onsite in our office. |
